The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of using SWOM model in developing problem solving skills and positive thinking among preparatory school students in social studies. The problem of the current study was identified in the weakness of the problem solving skills of second grade students of the preparatory stage. This directed the researcher to think about experimenting with a SWOM model in teaching social studies to develop both problem solving skills and positive thinking among the students of this stage. The researcher found the low level of positive thinking among the students in the preparatory stage, Social studies, and the required skills of thinking such as criticism, cognition, reasoning, prediction, and decision-making. This necessitates the need to use a SWOM model to develop problem-solving skills and positive thinking for second-grade students. The problem of the current study was centered on the following main question:
"How can the problem-solving and positive thinking skills of the preparatory school students be developed in social studies using the SWOM model?
The researcher used the semi-experimental approach. The research tools were the problem-solving skills test and the positive thinking scale. The results of the study revealed the effectiveness of using the SWOM model in developing problem solving skills and positive thinking among second grade students in social studies.

The population of this study consists of students of the Faculty of Education of Afif. The sample of the study consists of 216 students with 151 males and 65 females. The research approach is the descriptive analytical method based on the test anxiety scale of Ismail Ali's et al, after modifying some of its paragraphs to suit the Saudi environment. The research confirms that are statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) measurements of students' test anxiety according to gender variable, and the differences were in favor of females compared to males. There is, indeed, higher test anxiety among male students than female. There are also statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) or lower in the measurements of students' test anxiety among students according to the variable of the academic average. The study is therefore a means to promote students' self-confidence and enhance their self-esteem through teaching them to talk explicitly and express their desires freely and have the courage to say no.
