The present study aimed to determine the physics thinking skills in Egypt and Singapore tests, and investigate the effectiveness of a program based on the common mistakes strategy in developing those skills and reducing anxiety in physics among high school students. To accomplish this purpose, the physics thinking skills that are necessary for the secondary school students were determined. Availability of these skills in Egypt and Singapore tests was determined by analyzing of the physics tests from 2009 to 2018. To build the program, the common mistakes strategy was built in details, the student book and teacher's guide were prepared in the light of the common mistakes strategy. A test of physics thinking skills and a physics anxiety scale were prepared. A quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test experimental/control group design was utilized. The data collection instruments were used as pre-tests before the implementation and as post-tests at the end of the implementation. Results indicated that using the program has a positive effect on students’ physics skills and reducing their physics anxiety.
