The study aimed to identify the degree of mastery of second-grade intermediate school students of Makkah Al-Mukarramah of the dimensions of mathematical proficiency (conceptual comprehension، procedural fluency، and adaptive reasoning). To achieve the objectives of the study، the descriptive survey approach was followed، using the mathematical aptitude test that consisted of eleven questions. The application of the study to a sample of (558) students from the second intermediate grade in the city of Makkah Al-Mukarramah. The results of the study showed that the degree of students' mastery of mathematical proficiency is low in the total score، reaching (38.5%). Consequently، their degree of mastery appeared to be low in the four sub-dimensions، as it came after conceptual comprehension، first with a rate of (48.2%) ، followed by strategic competence at (36.7%) ، then procedural fluency by (36.2%) and finally adaptive inference reasoning by (34.3%). In light of these results، the study recommended the following: preparing a mathematics laboratory in each school، linking the content of the mathematics course with students' lives، redesigning the mathematics teacher guide to support the trend towards developing mathematical prowess during teaching، while training teachers on the teaching skills necessary to develop students' mathematical proficiency.
