Given the importance of job satisfaction for the positive attitude, productivity and professional development of university faculty and thus the growth of organizations, this study seeks to investigate job satisfaction of the faculty members at the University of Al-Arish and to identify the factors of improving job satisfaction in the Higher Education institutions, in order to propose an integrated model for improving their job satisfaction. In order to achieve this purpose, the descriptive approach was used. A questionnaire survey was conducted in order to explore faculty members’ job satisfaction concerning salary and incentives, work environment, academic freedom, professional development, social and health care services, and the leadership style. Results indicate that the respondents (93 including both faculty members and junior staff) overall have low job satisfaction. Relatively high levels of job satisfaction were related to academic freedom and work environment. The lowest levels however were related to social and health care services. In the light of these findings, the present study proposes a model that suggests the importance of addressing the faculty members’ financial demands. These should be considered by the university leadership and raised to decision-makers. The University is also encouraged to develop funding resources for improving the level of educational services (including the equipment, facilities, modern technologies, adequate classrooms and laboratories, etc.) as well as the social and health services provided to the university faculty.
