This research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a Suggested strategy based on Seigler's Overlapping Waves Theory in developing achievement and generative thinking skills (Fluency, Flexibility, Expansion, Prediction) in teaching Social Studies among sixth grade primary school students. The sample of the research consisted of (60) male and female students from “Kafr Qasim Elementary Mixed School” which follows Al-Ayat administration in Giza Governorate. They were divided into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group consisted of 30 students and studies using the suggested Overlapping Waves strategy whereas the other 30 students of the control group studied using the traditional method. The experimental research method with the semi-experimental design was used to achieve the study objectives and to prepare its tools that were represented in (achievement test, and generative thinking skills test). The results showed that there are statistically significant differences in the post-application of the generative thinking test, and the achievement test for the favor of the experimental group students. The research ended with the presentation of a set of recommendations and suggestions related to the employment of the Overlapping Waves Strategy in the teaching and learning environment.
