The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of the mentalization based therapy (MBT) on mentalizing, borderline personality disorder, difficulties of emotional regulation, and depression among under achievers. A total sample included 280-students with under achievements (Age=21-27) completed measures for borderline personality disorder, at 2019 in Saudi Arabia, The experimental study included 17 students (M=24.45, SD=1.96), that are distributed into two groups: control group (N=9), and experimental group (N=8), Two groups are completed measures for borderline personality disorder, mentaliztion, difficulties of emotional regulation, and depression. the intervention contains of MBT, it consisted of 24 sessions, 2 times a week. The results indicated that the members of intervention group showed greater improvement in mentalization, and reduction of borderline personality disorder, depression, and difficulties of emotional regulation in the post-test compared to the pre-test, and compared to the control group, on the other hand. Thus, there are statistically significant differences between the mean-ranks of Scores of the intervention group in pre-test and post-test on mentalization, borderline personality disorder, difficulties of emotional regulation, and depression. The present findings provided important evidence for effectiveness of MBT for reduction of borderline personality disorder among students with under achievements.
