The study aims to specify the most important academic, supervisory, administrative, personal and social obstacles facing masters and doctoral students in the Faculty of Education, Damietta University in the academic year 2019/2020, which hinder their progress in their research tasks, in light of some variables (Postgraduate programs - Sex - educational section).
The researcher used the descriptive approach as a research method. The study tool was applied to a random sample of the study population of (148) male and female master’s and doctoral students in postgraduate studies at the college.
The study results reveals that there are many obstacles facing the faculty's master and doctoral students, the most important of which are the difficulty of field application of educational research on a wide geographical scale; the supervisor's preoccupation with administrative work and teaching burdens within the university; the high fees for postgraduate studies; and the high cost of purchasing and translating foreign research on the subject.
The study results also found statistically significant differences in supervisory obstacles attributable to variable postgraduate programs in favor of master's students, statistically significant differences in supervisory and administrative obstacles attributable to the gender variable in favor of females, and statistically significant differences for supervisory obstacles due to the variable of the educational section in favor of the Department of Educational Psychology. The study ended with proposing a set of recommendations to reduce these obstacles.
