The aim of the current research is to identify the effectiveness of a program based on differentiated instruction strategies in developing student teachers' skill in adapting the mathematics curriculum, and their self-efficacy in teaching mathematics to students of various abilities. To achieve this goal, the researcher used the quasi-experimental method with two groups: experimental and control; each group has (78) mathematics student teachers in third year, in the second semester of the academic year 2019-2020. The research relied on two tools: the skill test in adapting the mathematics curriculum, and the self-efficacy scale in teaching mathematics to students with various abilities. t-test for independent means, and ETA square were used in the statistical data processing.
The results of the research indicated the effectiveness of the proposed program in developing the skill in adapting the mathematics curriculum, and the self-efficacy in teaching it. it is recommended to develop mathematics curricula according to differentiated instruction strategies taking into account the provision of an operational guide for mathematics teachers explaining the way of applying the strategies included in the differentiated instruction in the classroom, as well as holding training courses for mathematics teachers and their supervisors on how to use differentiated instruction in mathematics classes. It is also important to include differentiated instruction and its strategies when developing mathematics teacher preparation programs in the Faculty of Education, and to hold training courses for mathematics teachers on using differentiated instruction in their teaching.
