The study aimed to know the effects of using the Marzano model in developing metacognitive skills among eighth grade students in Riyadh. The semi-experimental curriculum was used and the study sample consisted of 70 students from the schools in Al-Saada district in Riyadh, KSA. They were randomly chosen and were divided into an experimental group consisting of 34 students, and an officer group of 36 students during the second semester of the year 1441 AH. To achieve the goals of the study, a study unit (Algebra, Equations and Variables) was developed. This unit includes a teacher’s guide, model lessons and a student’s guide according to the Marzano model in developing metacognitive skills. An achievement test in mathematics was prepared, and its honesty and reliability were verified, and the results of the study found that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control in the achievement test. It also showed that there are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control, both in the planning skill and the control and control skill and the evaluation skill and in favor of the experimental group. The researchers recommend that attention should be paid to the use of the Marzano model for learning dimensions at all educational levels and for training students in all units to acquire metacognitive skills (planning, control and monitoring, evaluation). Programs for preparing middle school teachers include special decisions related to metacognition skills.
