Abstract:
The study aimed to reveal the predictive ability of cognitive biases the through decision-making Style for female students of Umm Al-Qura University. It also aims to identify the nature of the relationship between cognitive biases and decision-making Style, and to identify the level of cognitive biases, in addition to identifying the most common decision-making Style among sample members in addition to the detection of statistically significant differences between the averages of the total score for the cognitive biases scale and the decision-making Style scale according to specialization, school year and age group. (247) female students from Umm Al-Qura University participated in the study representing the theoretical and scientific tracks. In order to achieve the study goals, the scales of Davos for cognitive biases and decision-making were used after confirming the indications of validity and reliability. The results of the study showed the presence of an average level of cognitive biases on the scale as a whole and on its sub-domains. The results also showed that the area of attention to threats ranked first, while the field of safe behaviors ranked last. The results also showed that the rational method was in the first order in terms of the percentage of prevalence and the percentage of mastery, while the avoidance method came in the last order in terms of the percentage of prevalence and mastery. Decision-making, except for the rational method, was not significantly associated with the students’ scores on the cognitive biases scale except with the first dimension (cognitive biases). The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the average scores (cognitive biases and decision-making Style) according to specialization, school year and age group. The results also showed the ability of cognitive biases to predict the decision-making styles of the sample members.
