The research aimed to reveal the effect of using some strategies to patterns understanding in improving mathematics achievement among sixth-grade primary school girls in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The experimental method with a quasi-experimental design was used, and its sample consisted of (83) sixth-grade primary school students who were randomly selected from public education schools for girls in Riyadh, and represented in two equal groups. The first was an experimental group of (43) students, who studied the specific mathematical content "angles and polygons" using some strategies to patterns understanding, and the other was a control group of (40) students, who studied the same mathematical content in the usual way. The research results was as follows:
There was a statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) in favor of the experimental group in the post-application of the academic achievement measurement test; This result indicates that the strategies of patterns understanding, (Critical Reading, similarities and differences, concept formation) had an impact in raising the level of achievement among sixth-grade primary school students. Accordingly, the researchers recommended that teachers should pay attention to designing various activities based on the use of strategies of patterns understanding in the teaching process at all educational levels and providing training programs and workshops to train mathematics teachers on modern methods of teaching mathematical concepts.
