The current study aims to identify the contributions of the Islamic perspective as an approach to confronting the contemporary challenges (psychological, social, health, and cultural) that hinder the participation of people with disabilities in community development in Upper Egypt. The importance of the study is due to the need of Egyptian society in the contemporary era to benefit from all its members in community development, as people with disabilities represent a large segment within society, and therefore they must be cared for, looked after, and their abilities must be utilized and helped to prove themselves to achieve independence and self-reliance instead of relying on others. The Islamic perspective as an approach to community development is keen on developing the human being and his resources to live a good and happy life full of achievements to reap the fruits of his good work in this world and the hereafter. The study relied on a set of concepts (the concept of the Islamic perspective, the concept of people with disabilities, the concept of contemporary challenges).
Therefore, the researcher used the social survey method in the study by choosing a comprehensive survey of all supervisors of committees and offices for the care of people with disabilities and directors of the administration in the same legal associations in the Fazara branch - Maragha Center - Sohag Governorate, numbering (78) supervisors and directors of the administration. The results of the study proved that the contributions of the Islamic perspective as an approach to confronting the contemporary (psychological, social, health, and cultural) challenges that hinder the participation of people with disabilities in community development in Upper Egypt were average. The study recommended the necessity of spreading community awareness of the importance of the participation of people with disabilities throughout history and their role in economic, political, military, judicial, social, and cultural development.
