The current research aimed to identify the level of cognitive processes among teachers, their ability and to pass the professional license exam, determine the relationship between teachers' cognitive processes and their ability to pass the professional license exam, and understand the role of cognitive processes in passing the professional license exam among teachers. This was achieved by following a descriptive survey method. A two-part questionnaire was prepared: the first part to measure the cognitive processes of teachers, and the second part to measure the teachers' ability to pass the professional license exam. It was applied to a sample of 200 middle school science teachers from public schools for the year 2024.
The results indicated that the level of cognitive processes among teachers was at a high level overall, with an average of (4.20) and a standard deviation of (0.672); the level of teachers' ability to pass the professional license exam was at a high level overall, with an average of (4.22) and a standard deviation of (0.658); and that the Pearson correlation coefficients between cognitive processes and the ability to pass the professional license exam among teachers showed a statistically significant positive correlation at the significance level of (0.01), both overall and in the dimensions. Additionally, the role of cognitive processes explains (52%) of the improvement in teachers' performance on the professional license exam.
