The present study aimed to develop the phenomenological reading skills of literary texts and the dimensions of aesthetic awareness among fourth-year students majoring in Arabic Language. These skills and dimensions are essential for analyzing and interpreting literary texts across different literary eras. The study sample consisted of 45 male and female.
The study problem was identified in the evident weakness and deficiency in students’ phenomenological reading of literary texts and in their aesthetic awareness, as revealed through a diagnostic exploratory study conducted by the researcher. This problem was further confirmed by the findings of related previous studies, which highlighted the importance of these skills and dimensions for literary text analysis.
The study involved designing a list of phenomenological reading skills suitable for fourth-year Arabic Language students, as well as a test to assess the development of these skills. Additionally, a list of aesthetic awareness dimensions was created alongside a scale to measure these dimensions.
The findings of the study confirmed the effectiveness of the study program based on Affective Stylistics Theory in significantly enhancing both the phenomenological reading skills and aesthetic awareness of the literary texts among the participants.
