This study aimed to investigate the role of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in developing Arabic grammar skills among university students from their own perspective. A questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale was designed to measure four core dimensions: sentence construction skills, parsing (I‘rāb) skills, grammatical application skills, and skills in detecting and correcting grammatical errors. The study employed the descriptive approach and involved 657 male and female students from King Saud University and Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University during the second semester of the 2024–2025 academic year. Participants were selected using a stratified random sampling method. The results revealed that the overall mean of the questionnaire responses was 3.57, indicating a high level of agreement, which reflects the positive and effective role of AI applications in enhancing grammar skills. Parsing skills ranked first with a mean of 3.68, followed by grammatical application skills (3.62), then error detection and correction skills (3.61), while sentence construction skills ranked last with a moderate mean of 3.35. These findings highlight the effectiveness of intelligent applications in supporting skills that rely on clear procedural rules, such as parsing and grammatical application, while some challenges persist in more complex and creative skills like sentence construction. The results underscore the importance of strengthening the integration between AI technologies and traditional teaching methods, as well as developing digital content to maximize the effectiveness of these applications in supporting the learning of Arabic grammar rules. The study recommends expanding the use of AI applications in higher education and providing training programs for faculty members and students to ensure optimal benefit.
