Abstract
The study aimed to take advantage of the American experience in employing the approach of career pathways for teachers in Egypt to achieve competitiveness, through knowing the concept of competitiveness, its importance in education, and the most important features of the American experience in the field of career pathways for teachers, and how it was used as a tool to achieve competitiveness in the American society, and that contributes to earning Teachers the attributes and competencies that enable them to prepare a generation capable of advancing society, catching up with the global race and achieving competition. The descriptive method was used as it suits the study topic. The study results included the following: The United States of America has paid close attention to the quality of the teacher through the use of the career paths approach, which is based on the recognition and reward of distinguished teachers based on assuming additional responsibilities and broader powers. The teacher advancement program TAP was presented as one of the teacher development programs that depends on career paths in terms of its importance and the way it is managed, the paths it provides for teachers, and the requirements for promotion for each path. The study ended with a number of recommendations that achieve its goals, which are divided into axes that included: the nature of the career paths approach and its importance in achieving competitiveness, career paths and their description and the conditions for the promotion of each path, the professional development of teachers, the evaluation of teachers, and the effective implementation of the recommendations for this approach
