Abstract
This research aimed at investigating the effectiveness of a suggested program in geography based on intangible cultural heritage to develop entrepreneurship skills and attitude towards freelance for first year secondary stage students. The research problem was represented in the weakness of entrepreneurship skills and attitude towards freelance for secondary stage students. Also, there was a lack of concern of secondary stage geographic curricula about intangible cultural heritage topics. To face this problem, a list of entrepreneurship skills, as well as a list of the intangible cultural heritage dimensions appropriate for first year, secondary stage students were prepared. A suggested structure of the program based on intangible cultural heritage dimensions in geography was designed and one of its units was prepared in detail. The researcher designed two research instruments represented in an entrepreneurship skills test and an attitude towards freelance rubric. A group of first year, secondary stage students at Al Sayeda Aisha Secondary School for Girls (n=37) were selected to participate in the study. This research adopted a quasi-experimental, one group research design. Results indicated the effectiveness of the suggested program and experimental unit in developing entrepreneurship skills and attitude towards freelance for the research group. This was represented in the significance of differences at the 0.01 level between the students’ mean scores in the pre and post-application of the entrepreneurship Skills test, whether regarding the test as a whole or regarding each sub-skill, as well as attitude towards freelance rubric. Therefore, the research recommended the necessity for incorporating heritage topics and giving greater importance to entrepreneurship skills through various curricula, including geography curricula.
