This study aimed to recommend a proposal to initiate a religious education course to help develop some important life skills that graduating secondary-school girl-students necessarily need for their future marital lives.
To achieve the goal of the study, the researcher prepared an inventory of essential marital life skills, covering three themes: Premarrige, Intramarital Life & Domestic Issues Management. Additionally, the study addressed (46) marriage-related subthemes.
Using the descriptive-analytical method, the study vetted the components of existing religious education textbooks (under Natural Sciences) throughout the secondary school stage for evidence, if any, of references to or inclusions of future marital life skills.
The findings of the study revealed the following facts:
- There is hardly a notworthy mention of future marital life skills in religious education textbooks.
- The percentual rate of references to future marital life skills in Quranic Exegesis textbooks is 54.35%.
- The percentual rate of references to future marital life skills in Hadeeth (Prophet’s Traditions) textbooks is 71.74%.
- The percentual rate of references to future marital life skills in Fiqh (Jurisprudence) textbooks is 78.27%.
- The percentual rate of references to future marital life skills in Tawheed (Monotheism) textbooks is 97.83%.
Accordingly, the study recommended launching an educational course entitled “Marital Bliss: Theory and Practice”. In addition, the study included a number of other relevant recommendations and suggestions.
