The research problem is represented in the weakness of the cognitive balance and the low level of academic hardness among the students in Psychology Department at the Faculty of Education in light of the courses taught to them. Therefore, the researcher proposed a program in health psychology issues to develop cognitive balance and improve the academic hardness level among pre-service teachers in the Psychology Department. The research aimed at identifying the effectiveness of a proposed program in health psychology issues to develop cognitive balance and improve the academic hardness level among pre-service teachers in the Psychology Department. The research used the descriptive and the experimental approaches. The research instruments included: a teacher's guide, a Cognitive Balance Test, and an Academic Hardness Scale. The research sample consisted of (30) male and female pre-service teachers in the Psychology Department. The research results, generally, indicated the effectiveness of the proposed program in health psychology issues in developing cognitive balance and improving the academic hardness level of pre-service teachers in the Psychology Department. Thus, the main aim of the research was achieved. Moreover, the research recommended the need to reorganize psychology courses in light of the lived reality. Hence, the students will be aware of what is going on with them, so what we teach our students is not isolated from the life aspects that they live and interact with. This way may help to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
