The study aimed to reveal the attitudes of tenth-grade students in the Sultanate of Oman towards civic participation in natural disaster management in the Sultanate of Oman. The researchers used a descriptive analytical approach. The study sample consisted of 284 male and female students.
To answer the study questions, a scale measuring the attitudes towards civic participation in natural disaster management was developed, consisting of 30 items distributed across six dimensions. It was reviewed by a group of experts, and its reliability using Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.918.
The results revealed highly positive attitudes among tenth-grade students towards civic participation in natural disaster management, with an overall mean of 3.52 and standard deviation of 0.675. The results revealed statistically significant differences at (α ≥ 0.05) attributed to gender in favor of females, with a mean of (3.60) and a standard deviation of (.539). All themes were significant in favor of females, except for the first which was significant for favor of males.
In light of the findings, the study recommended the following: strengthening school curricula with concepts and practices of civic participation related to natural disaster management while supporting them with practical activities using modern technologies.
