Activating the Principles of Governance at the Egyptian Universities to Overcome the Challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution

Abstract

The present study aims to identify the principles of university governance, as well as the challenges to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and how to overcome them. It adopted the descriptive approach. The results revealed that university governance is an important ground for change to overcome the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Governance enhances the performance and quality of outputs to maximize competitiveness. There are significant administrative and educational gaps between the public and international universities. The weak legislation and provisions of the technological innovations subject the society to infiltration. The study recommended promoting the real application of the university governance principles to enhance university performance and overcome the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Awareness and understanding of issues shall be raised and brilliant global scholars from the private and public sectors shall be engaged in decision-making. A system shall be developed to ensure the effectiveness and efficacy of technology governance at Egyptian universities to support the infrastructure of information technology to overcome the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Electronic programs that focus on the development of scientific thinking skills based on criticism, analysis, and discussion of facts and scientific concepts.
