Academic Entitlement among University Students in the Light of Demographic Variables

Abstract

The study aimed to find out the level of academic entitlement among university students in light of variables: gender, academic level and academic specialization. The study sample consisted of (317) university students, (176 male+141 female), their ages were (21.72 ± 1.56) years. The participants were selected from some Colleges in King Khalid University in Abha. The researcher applied academic entitlement scale (prepared by El-Dabee, 2018), the descriptive approach was used in the research. Results of the study indicated that: The university students showed a high level in the overall degree of academic entitlement and sub-dimension entitlement beliefs and a moderate level at entitlement actions dimension.  There were statistically significant differences in academic entitlement due to gender, age and academic specialization in favor of males, and humanities specialization, and level one. The results were discussed according to the Literature and previous studies, and recommendations are offered based on the findings of this study.
