The Effectiveness of A Suggested Listening Program Based on The Processes Approach in Developing Listening Competency
And Using its Strategies Among Middle School Students

The current study aimed to present a suggested listening program based on a comprehensive definition of listening as a process that includes cognitive, emotional and behavioral aspects, and measuring the effectiveness of this program in developing the competency of listening and employing its various strategies for students in the middle stage, and The study used the descriptive approach in determining the stages and procedures of the listening process and the procedures for structured training on these stages. It also used the quasi-experimental approach in implementing the suggested program and addressing the pre and post results on the research group. To achieve the goals of the current study, the researcher prepared some research instruments includes : a measure of listening competency , and a test to measure the employment of middle school students for listening strategies, in addition to the proposed program for teaching listening according to the processes approach. The study has reached results of importance in its field; The listening according to the processes approach has contributed to the development of emotional and behavioral dimensions - in addition to the cognitive dimensions - to listen, and also contributed to enhancing the employment of third-graders middle school listening strategies of various kinds: cognitive and metacognitive and emotional, and the results of the current study also indicated a proof of positive correlation between the level of competency of listening and the level of employing its strategies among the students in the study group. The study presented recommendations and proposals considered in their subject matter and linked to the results.
