The effectiveness of using Zahorik Model in teaching geography for developing Generative Information skills and Awareness of the Economic Development Issues for the second year Secondary School Students

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using Zahorik Model in teaching geography for developing Generative Information skills and Awareness of the Economic Development Issues for the second year Secondary School Students. The sample of the study consisted of (62) students at the second grade of the secondary stage in Egypt, they were divided into two groups; experimental and control. The experimental group studied using ZahorikModel while the control group studied using traditional method. The current study applied the experimental Approach with Quasi-experimental design to achieve the Study objectives, which represented in Generative Information skills test and a measure of Awareness of the Economic Development Issues. The results indicated that there were statistically significant differences at level (0.05) among the mean scores of the post-test of the Generative Information skills and the measure Awareness of the Economic Development Issues in favor of the experimental group. The finding also indicated that ZahorikModel has large effectiveness in enhancing the Generative Information skills test and the measure of Awareness of the Economic Development Issues. At last the study concluded by offering a group of recommendation and suggestions that related with utilizing ZahorikModel in the environment of learning.
