Abstract

The research aimed to identify the effectiveness of using (4MAT) model in developing reflective thinking skills and achievement in Mathematics for primary Stage students, The research used the quasi experimental approach in its experimental procedures. It also used the two groups (experimental, control) experimental design with two measurements (pre and post). The research was applied to a group of (81) primary third grade pupils, divided into (41) pupils as an experimental group and (40) pupils as a control group. The research presented a number of research materials and tools represented as A list of necessary reflective thinking skills in mathematics for primary stage pupils, A pupil's book in the unit (engineering), for the third-grade primary stage pupils in the first semester. This unit has been rewritten to include the (4MAT) model, A teacher's guide to teaching the (geometry) unit using the (4MAT) model, Mathematics reflective thinking skills test, and mathematics achievement test, Research results show the presence of statistically significant differences at the level (0.01) between the mean scores of the pupils of the experimental and controlling groups in favor of the experimental group in Reflective thinking in mathematics with its skills (meditation and observation, the detection of fallacies, access to integrity, giving convincing explanations, and generating Suggested solutions) and Achievement in Mathematics at levels (remembering, understanding, and applying), represented in the post -application for both the reflective thinking test in mathematics and the achievement test in mathematics, Research made a number of recommendations such as The importance of including mathematics curricula in the Primary Stage presented with activities and exercises that provide the opportunity for students to practice reflective thinking skills, Training mathematics teachers to use the (4MAT) model in teaching. Making mathematics teachers aware of the importance of reflective thinking skills and Encouraging them to develop the reflective thinking skills for their students.
