Abstract

The research aimed at investigating the effectiveness of a suggested program based on professional learning communities (PLC) for developing decision-making skills and the attitude towards cooperative work for philosophy teachers. The research group consisted of 30 philosophy teachers at Ain Shams Educational Administration, Cairo governorate. The research tools included decision-making skills test and a scale for the attitude towards cooperative work. The research tools were administered on the research group. Results indicated that there were statistical significant differences at the level of (0,01) between the teachers’ mean scores on the pre-post test administration for the experimental group in the decision making skills test and the scale for the attitude towards cooperative work favoring the post test scores of the experimental group. This emphasized the effectiveness of the suggested program based on professional learning communities (PLC) for developing decision-making skills and the attitude towards cooperative work for philosophy teachers. The research recommended that it is necessary to train teachers on PLC and to develop their decision-making skills and their attitude towards cooperative work.
