Quality Performance of sign language interpreter from the perspective of deaf and hard-of-hearing university students and their relationship to their academic performance

Abstract

The current research aimed to know the relationship between quality of the sign language interpreter from the perspective of deaf and hard of hearing students and their academic performance. and to achieve this goal, the research conducted in a sample of (n. 61) In  Deaf and Hard of Hearing University Students enrolled in specific education colleges at the universities of Zagazig and Ain Shams, divided as follow (30) males, (31) Females aged (18-24) years with mean age (20,89), a standard deviation (2,10), their hearing impairment ranged between deaf (37), hearing impaired (24), and after conducting the sign language interpreter quality scale and academic performance scale, the most important findings resulted in a relationship between The quality of sign language interpreters from the perspective of deaf and hard of hearing students and their academic performance, there are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of Deaf and Hard of Hearing University Students in academic performance according to gender (male - female), and there are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of Deaf and Hard of Hearing University Students in academic performance according to the hearing condition (deaf-hard of hearing) for the hearing impaired, and The quality of sign language interpreters differs from the perspective of deaf and hard-of-hearing university students according to the variable Hearing Condition (deaf-hard of hearing) for the benefit of hearing impaired.for the hearing impaired.
