Structural Godet's Scenarios to predict the future of the higher education system in Egypt in the light of the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution: Foresight Field

Abstract

The aim of the research was to present scenarios to predict the future of the higher education system in the light of the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, by identifying the main variables of the system of higher education in Egypt using the MicMac method, and determining the competitive capacity of the most prominent techniques and challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution using the Mactor method, from educational experts' perspectives.
The research used the descriptive and prospective methods. A questionnaire was used for the purpose of identifying the priorities of the techniques and challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution using the Advanced SWOT technique. The research sample included eleven faculty members at some public Egyptian universities (Al-Manofyia-Mansoura- Zaqaziq-Cairo and Assiut).
The research findings revealed that the main key variables of higher education system components were   thirteen variables through which leading change in the future and facing the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution can be done. Also, the main key variables of the fourth industrial revolution were represented in five Technics and six challenges. It was also revealed that the competitive capabilities of its most prominent technologies came the technic of 'Internet of Things' and 'automation' technology which scored two positive grades for their competitive ability in enhancing the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution. The competitive capabilities of its most prominent challenges came at first the technic of 'the utilization of modern technology and its applications in the educational system' and 'finding documented laws to be a global norm, and confirming on the importance of ethics in the digital age', which scored two positive grades for their competitive ability in promoting the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution.
