Effectiveness of the Strategic and Interactive Writing Instruction (SIWI) in Improving Written Expression Skills among Students with Hard of Hearing in Higher Education

Abstract

      The aim of this study was to identify the effectiveness of the Strategy of Writing Strategic and Interactive Writing (SIWI) in improving the performance of writing (Essay writing) skills within the written expression skills of hard of hearing students in the preparation year in the program of higher education for deaf and hard of hearing students. To achieve the goal, the study used experimental approach, (Multiple Probe Design across Participants) which is one of Single Subject Designs (SSD). The study sample consisted of three students with hard of hearing who were studying in the preparation year of the Higher Education Program for Deaf and hard of Hearing at King Saud University in Riyadh, ranging in age from 18 to 20 years wearing hearing aid, and they have no addition disability. The results of the study found that SIWI was effective in improving the writing behavior of the written expression skills of hard of hearing students in Higher Education Year Program, which in turn is a great motivation to join the university.
