Abstract

The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of micro-teaching in the student teachers’ acquisition of some teaching skills in the pre-service General Education Diploma program, and thus answer the following questions:
What is the effectiveness of micro-teaching in the student teachers’ acquisition of the preparation skill?
What is the effectiveness of micro-teaching in the student teachers’ acquisition of the classroom questioning skill?
What is the effectiveness of micro-teaching in the student teachers’ acquisition of the closure skill?
The study group consisted of the General Education Diploma Program students at the second level who were performing field training and their number was (143 students), and the research sample included (64 student teachers) of which (32 student teachers) were in the experimental group and (32 student teachers) in the control group.
The reliability coefficient of the study tool was calculated using Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient and it stood at 0.88, and the semi-empirical design was used which is the non equivalent control group design.
Results of the study showed that there are statistically significant differences at (α≤0.05) in the student teachers’ acquisition of the preparation skill by using the micro-teaching strategy and their peers in favor of the experimental group, and there were also statistically significant differences at (α≤0.05) in the student teachers’ acquisition of the classroom questioning skill by using the micro-teaching strategy and their peers in favor of the experimental group, and there were also statistically significant differences at (α≤0.05) in the student teachers’ acquisition of the closure skill by using the micro-teaching strategy and their peers in favor of the experimental group.
The study concluded with a set of recommendations most important of which is the need to adopt the use of the micro-teaching strategy in educational institutions, universities, and educational colleges concerned in training student teachers during their pre-service and in-service, because of the positive impact on the acquired teaching skills using this strategy.
