The Quality of University Students' Life in Relation to Demographic Variables (An Investigation Based on Students' Samples at Majmaah University)

Abstract

 The main objectives of this study are threefold; (i) to pinpoint the factors that govern university students' life quality, (ii) to identify the level of the university students' life quality, (iii) and to determine differences, if any, between students due to various dimensions as: gender, academic achievement, field of study, and academic level.A life quality measure was designed and tested on a sample of 228 students of Majmaah university, who are studying in different fields. The results revealed that the main components of the university students' life quality are: the quality of students' self-life and the quality of self-management. The level of the students' life quality at Majmaah University is above average, and this was the case for the different components of the students' life quality. There are no significant statistical differences between the mean scores of the students' life quality according to gender. However, there are differences in the students' quality life  in respect of females, especially the quality of both religious and social life. There are no significant statistical differences between the mean scores of the students' life quality at Majmaah University in terms of  field of study. However, there are differences in the quality of academic life of students, particularly the students who are studying in scientific fields. There are significant statistical  differences between the mean scores of the students' life quality at Majmaah University based on different academic achievement and scores, specifically in respect of students with higher scores. However, the following dimensions have no effect on students' life quality: planning, life satisfaction, quality of religious life and quality social of life. There are significant statistical differences between the mean scores of the students' life quality at Majmaah University due to academic level, in respect of students in higher levels. However, the following dimensions have no effect on students' life quality - the quality of religious life, and the quality of academic life.
