The Effectiveness of Non Class Vocational Activities in Developing Practical and Social skills in Water Technology and Sanitation Course for Third-Year Secondary Industrial School Students.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate effectiveness of Non Class Vocational Activities in developing practical and social skills  in water technology and sanitation course for third-year secondary industrial school students. The study samples consisted of 64 students specialized in architecture distributed into two groups (experimental and control), with 32 students in each from industrial secondary schools in Desouk City at Kafr EL-sheikh government, Egypt. Study tools included (1) a checklist of ‘practical skills’ included in unit (2) suggested Non Class Vocational Activities (3) a checklist to measure the practical skills in unit, and social skills measurement. The content of the eighth unit ‘training on parts of maintenance for school toilets’’ was analyzed to determine the practical skills included in the unit, and preparation of teacher guide to suggested Non Class Vocational Activities in the unit . The tools of the study were administered using a pre-post design on the study groups and the appropriate statistical procedures were used. The results of the study indicated that suggested Non Class Vocational Activities was effective in developing practical and social skills of the experimental group as compared to the control.
