Developing administrative practices for academic leaders according to the Six Sigma methodology From the point of view of department heads (An applied study in the accredited faculties of Alexandria University)

Abstract

The aim of the research is to detect the reality of the administrative practices of academic leaderships, and to measure the impact of some personal variables such as job degree, gender, and college type on the administrative practices of academic leaders according to the Six Sigma methodology from the point of view of department heads in the accredited faculties at Alexandria University, and have a set of suggested recommendations To develop administrative practices for academic leaders and then to reach excellence at the University of Alexandria. It copes with the descriptive and analytical approach which is used by the researcher. It aims to provide, collect data and facts about the research point to interpret it and determine its implications, by describing the reality of the administrative practices of academic leaders.
The research tool consisted of: a questionnaire was prepared by the researcher, and it consisted in its final form of (47) statements distributed on six main axes for the administrative practices of university leaders, which are as follows (support for senior management, beneficiaries' satisfaction, rewards and incentives, spreading culture, training and development, infrastructure and information. ), From the department heads of the accredited colleges at Alexandria University, which were divided into several sectors (the medical sector, the practical sector, the theoretical sector, the educational sector), and a random sample representative of the original community was chosen, represented in the College of Nursing as one of the colleges of the medical sector, includes (9) Departments, the College of Agriculture as one of the colleges of the practical sector, includes (19) departments, the College of Tourism and Hotels as one of the colleges of the theoretical sector, includes (3) departments, and the College of Physical Education for girls as one of the colleges of the educational sector, includes (6) departments. and a number has been distributed (37) questionnaires had been distributed to the heads of departments in those colleges with their different job ranks (professor, assistant professor). the researcher was able to get (35) valid questionnaires for conducting statistical analyzes.
The most important results of the research reached:
1- The reality of administrative practices of university leaders from the point of view of department heads of accredited colleges at Alexandria University obtained an average rating of (67%).
2- The arrangement of the axes of administrative practices for university leaders from the point of view of department heads in the accredited faculties of Alexandria University came as follows: (the axis of beneficiaries satisfaction, the axis of support for senior management, the axis of infrastructure and information, the axis of training and development, the axis of spreading culture, the axis of rewards and incentives) .
3- There are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) between the averages of the research sample responses to the axes of management practices of university leaders due to two variables (job grade, gender).
- There are differences in the average scores of the administrative practices of academic leaders between the medical and educational sectors in favor of the educational sector.
