The present study aimed at identify the philosophical framework of the dimensions of sustainable development in Islam, the dimensions of sustainable development in the light of the sources of Islamic education, and to reveal the educational applications of the dimensions of sustainable development in the light of the sources of Islamic education.
The researcher used the descriptive analytical approach, as the descriptive relies on the Holy Qur’an and the purified Sunnah of the Prophet, as they are the main sources of Islamic education, and draws out the dimensions of sustainable development and the requirements for their realization. The results of the study as the following: -
• Sustainable development is an authentic concept that Islam emphasized through its original and subsidiary sources, and its dimensions are evidences that reinforce it and explain how to achieve it.
• The most prominent principles and goals of sustainable development are equity, empowerment, solidarity and finding a balance among the differences needs of the society, while achieving equality، social justice, and combating the problems of social disintegration, unemployment and poverty.
• To achieve sustainable development from the perspective of Islamic education in the economic, social and environmental dimension, there are some means including taking consideration to the achievement of balance between classes of society, and continuous work to achieve a prosperous economy, while moving away from forbidden financial transactions, and strengthening the ability to face economic crises.
• Among the most important applications of sustainable development in Islamic education are education, new media, the family and the mosque.
• It is important to incorporate and maintain the concepts of a safe environment in the educational stages, to involve the community in sustainable development, and to raise awareness of this through the media، social media, and family education on the application of sustainable development.
• The specialists in the field of Islamic education must present the principles related to the educational and health fields in order to advance in the field of education.
