The effectiveness of a program based on intensive reading to develop persuasive writing skills and reduce writing anxiety among middle school students.

Abstract

The aim of the current research is to identify the persuasive writing skills needed by second-grade middle school pupils, to identify the manifestations of writing anxiety among second-grade middle school pupils, and to identify the effectiveness of the program based on intensive reading to develop persuasive writing skills and reduce writing anxiety among second-grade middle school students.
The research used the descriptive approach and the quasi-experimental approach, and the researcher prepared a list of persuasive writing skills, a list of writing anxiety aspects, a persuasive writing skills test, a writing anxiety scale, and the proposed program. The two research groups consisted of (60) students from the second year of middle school, and they were divided into two groups (30) students for the control group, and (30) students for the experimental group, and the results showed the effectiveness of the program based on intensive reading in developing persuasive writing skills and reducing writing anxiety in pupils of the experimental group.
In light of the findings of the research, the researcher recommended the need to pay attention to developing persuasive writing skills among pupils through the use of teaching programs based on intensive reading with the multiple strategies and activities it contains.
