Mechanisms for activating digital citizenship ethics in secondary schools in the light of some international models

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the theories that explain digital citizenship, analyze the most important international models, and establish mechanisms to activate the ethics of digital citizenship in secondary education schools in Egypt in the light of international models, in line with the educational reality conditions in Egypt.
The study was limited to deal with the mechanisms of activating the ethics of digital citizenship in each of (the United States of America, England, and China). It relied on the descriptive analytical approach, and the study concluded that activating the ethics of digital citizenship in secondary schools requires four main interactive requirements, namely:
-          Educational  requirements; The set of processes carried out by secondary education schools is concerned with enhancing students' awareness of the principles and ethics related to the safe use of technology and the reduction of cultural pollutants, and mechanisms have been put in place to achieve these requirements.
-          Technology requirements; It is concerned with a set of capabilities, technologies and electronic media that must be provided in schools to ensure the timely arrival of correct information and knowledge and to eliminate electronic rumors, and mechanisms have been put in place to achieve these requirements.
-           management requirements; It means the set of processes and practices undertaken by secondary schools to move individuals towards adherence to the ethics of digital citizenship, and mechanisms have been put in place to fulfill these requirements.
-           Legal requirements; It means the set of means through which rights are known and obligations are adhered to   the safe use of digital technology, and to limit violations of laws related to digital citizenship, the study present some mechanisms in order  to achieve these requirements.
