Crises management and its Relationship to Psychological Stress Among Academic Leaders at King Khalid University in the light of Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).

Abstract

The Study aimed to recognize crises management level and its Relationship to Psychological Stress Among Academic Leaders at King Khalid University in the light of Coronavirus pandemic(COVID-19).and to clarify the differences between variables of crises management and psychological stress among a sample of academic leaders  according to college type, gender, experience years, and administrative position. The study relied on the descriptive analytical method and suitable tools were used to assess the study variables that are : Crises management  scale ( prepared by the researchers ) and psychological stress among academic leaders during Coronavirus pandemic(COVID-19) ( prepared by the researchers ) .  The study sample consisted of a random sample  of (124) leaders  of academic staff members  and reached the following results: the level of crises management for the dimensions: for mitigation and readiness, confrontation and response, rebalance and a construction and the continuous learning from the crisis reached (2.01) as a relative weight and (67%) percentage that is an average degree . the level of psychological stresses for the dimensions: personal field and work field reached a relative weight of (2.30) and (77%) percentage that is an average degree among academic leaders during Coronavirus pandemic(COVID-19). There is a reverse correlation between crises management and psychological stresses of academic Leaders during Coronavirus pandemic(COVID-19). Also, there are significant statistical difference between crises management and psychological stresses among academic leaders during Coronavirus pandemic(COVID-19) attributed to the variable of college type, gender and experience and there are no difference for the variable of administrative position.
The study recommended the necessity of spreading the culture of crises management among academic leaders by preparing guidelines clarifying how to deal with crises and holding periodical training sessions in the field of crises management.
