The effectiveness of an online counseling program based on self-compassion in reducing the multi-faceted anxiety of home quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic among university students

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of the online counseling program based on self-compassion in reducing the multi-faceted anxiety of home quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic among university students. The sample consisted of (13) students: experimental group (7) students, and control group (6) students whose had high home quarantine stress the Department of Special Education, King Khalid University; Mage= 20.31, SD= 0.95). The researcher prepared the multi-faceted anxiety of home quarantine scale, and the online counselling program. The results indicated that there were statistically significant differences between the means scores of experimental group at the pre-test and post-test on the multi-faceted anxiety of home quarantine. These differences in favor of post-test. There were statistically significant differences between the means scores of experimental group and control group at post-test on the multi-faceted anxiety of home quarantine. These differences in favor of experimental group. There were no statistically significant differences between the means scores of experimental group at post-test and follow up-test on the multi-faceted anxiety of home quarantine, The results indicated that the effectiveness of the online counseling program based on the self-compassion in reducing the multi-faceted anxiety of home quarantine in light of the Covid-19 pandemic among university students.
