Acquisitions of Teaching Staff from Transferring to E-learning During Coronavirus Pandemic: An Outcome Evaluation Study

Abstract

This study is a portrayal of  e-learning modes that had been practiced by  the population of the DCSCE (84) faculties at Princess Nourah University (PNU). The study seeks to investigate the faculty's acquisitions from being through this experience during covid-19 pandemic. Data was collected by an online survey that encompasses five themes, and analyzed by using SPSS. The study employs evaluation of outcomes approach. The results reveals faculties' enhancement of e-learning management system and developing e- tests. In teaching context, the acquisitions include choosing appropriate teaching strategies and the awareness of educational technologies in enriching online teaching and learning. In the IT support theme the top acquisition reported to be the use of innovative applications computer programs. Moreover, faculty cooperation and exchange of the best-practices constitute the top results of social support theme. Additionally, the results reveals insignificant correlation between the faculties' acquisitions and their previous experience in e-learning, indicating that these acquisitions are totally outcomes of faculties' experience during the coronavirus pandemic. The study recommends the inclusion of these acquisitions in faculties' training programs to overcome the pandemic persisting of academic disturbance in teaching and learning. It also recommends the investment in these acquisitions to enhance PNU's efforts in developing e- learning as a future choice. Additionally, the study recommends further research in e- learning post covid-19 to improve the outcomes and minimize the cost.
