Abstract

The aim of the current research is to identify the nature of mental disorders related to the period of physical distancing follwing the Corona pandemic and its relationship to the five major factors of personality. The study sample consisted of (328), (97) males, (231) females students at Aswan University, and the researcher used the relational descriptive approach, and to reach the results, the researcher used the scale of mental disorders associated with physical distancing, prepared by the researcher, And the measure of the five major factors of personality prepared by (Costa and Macri 1992) and translated by (Al-Ansari, 1997). The results resulted in the sufferings of Aswan University students from disorders of "anxiety, depression, panic, sleep disorders, eating disorders, post-trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder in varying proportions" as a result of physical distancing, and the existence of a correlative relationship between these disorders and extraverion factor,and also a positive correlation between the openness to experience factor and the obsessive-compulsive disorder. The researcher recommends the necessity of providing counseling services to university students to reduce these disorders, especially those with an extroverted personality.
