A Suggested Perception of Educational Policies for Egyptian Universities in the Light of the SARS-CoV2 Pandemic

Abstract

The current study aimed at investigating the term of educational policy, its components and basic standards for establishing it, as well as identifying the notion of SARS-Cov2 pandemic, and its major social, economic, political and educational impacts on higher education institutions. Furthermore, it tried to address the features of educational policy which was implemented at the time of Coronavirus at Fayoum University to highlight the shortcomings and strength in implementing it. It also attempted to identify the perceptions of experts regarding efficiency of the educational policy used at the time of the crisis at Fayoum University and developing a Suggested Perception to increase its efficiency and overcome obstacles to its implementation. The study employed the ideas of the critical theory to understand how Egyptian universities responded, through their educational policies, to the repercussions of the crisis. The study also used the case study method. Based on interview analysis and content analysis of educational policy decisions ,the study reached many results which are: the educational policy of Fayoum University has stopped in dealing with the crisis  to just reduce its negative effects on the educational system in the colleges, in addition to poor adoption of the educational policy on a strong basis of information on the elements of the educational system, As a result, the policy has been separated from the present and the future and therefore, a limited role on just reactions, and managing problems more than solving them was employed. Finally, the study developed a suggested proposal to improve the effectiveness of educational policies of Fayoum University at the time of crisis.
