Relationship between Emotional Regulation and Attachment Styles for New Married Couples

Abstract

      The aim of the research is to identify the level of emotional organization among the members of the research sample of newlyweds in Jeddah, the patterns of partner attachment common to the members of the research sample of newlyweds in Jeddah, and to reveal the relationship between the degrees of the research sample of newlyweds in Jeddah on the scale of emotional organization and their degrees On the scale of attachment patterns to a partner, The sample of the study consisted of (228) New married Couples in Jeddah Governorate, (117 males and 111 females; Mage = 31. 91, SD = 5.31) years, they were randomized method. The study used The emotional regulation scale (Greenberg, et al., 2016), translated by the researcher, attachment styles scale (prepared by the researcher). The results indicated that: 1) The level of emotional regulation, attachment styles among New Married Couples in general was average. 2) There was a positive correlation statistically significant at the level (0,01) between the emotional regulation and the secure attachment, and negative statistically significant correlation with the insecure attachment, 3). The results were discussed according to the Literature and previous studies.
