The mediating role of both religiosity and thinking dispositions in the relationship between cognitive style and morality judgments among high school students
The study aimed to arrive at a model that explains the mediating role of both religiosity and thinking styles about the relationship between cognitive style and moral judgments in a sample of high school students, the study sample consisted of (500) students from high school, whose ages ranged between (16- 18 years) with an average age of (16.2) years and a standard deviation of (1.3) years. The religiosity scale prepared by Ahmed Muhammad Abdel Khaleq (2016), and the measures of thinking styles (extroverted, active, rational, experimental), and a questionnaire of moral foundations prepared by the researcher were applied to them. The averages, standard deviations, correlation coefficients, path analysis model for statistical programs (SPSS 26), (Amos 25) and ,(R) were used to analyze the data, and the results indicated that religiosity and thinking styles (active extrovert (AOT), rational (REI-R), Experimental (REI-E)) act as a partial mediator in the relationship between the cognitive method measured by the Cognitive Reflection Test (CRT) and the Moral Foundations as measured by the Moral Foundations Questionnaire (MFQ), The assumed model achieved a good match of the data (X2 / sd: 9.205, CFI). : 0.998, TLI: 0.996, RMSEA: 0.033), The results also confirm the significant link between religiosity and intuitive thinking and also indicate that moral judgments are affected by individual differences in thinking styles and cognitive style.
