This research sample consisted of (42) fourth-grade students. It was divided into two groups: A control group of (21) students who studied reading topics in the traditional method, and an experimental group of (21) students studied reading topics using the strategy of reciprocal teaching. The researcher applied the study tools: the reading comprehension test and the critical thinking test as pre and posttests.  The results were treated statistically. The results revealed low performance of the fourth grade pupils at the levels of understanding (deductive - critical - appreciation - creative) in the skills of ((analysis, evaluation, knowledge of assumptions, deduction, comparison, interpretation, arrangement, and classification). The results also showed the effectiveness of the reciprocal teaching strategy in developing reading comprehension skills at its four levels (deductive – critical - appreciation - creative).
