The Scientific Loyalty in Islam and the extent of its Realization in the Practices of Faculty Members in the Egyptian Universities towards their Professors
The current research aimed to explore the value of scientific loyalty in Islam and the extent of its realization in the practices of faculty members towards their professors in the Egyptian universities after termination of the supervision period. The research utilized the fundamentalist and descriptive approaches for the theoretical and field parts of the research in sequence. Participants included (134) faculty members in the Egyptian universities who responded to a questionnaire related to the value of scientific loyalty and the extent of its realization in their practices towards their professors. Also, the participants consisted of (20) emeritus and non-emeritus professors who the current researcher interviewed to investigate the realization of the scientific loyalty in the behaviors of students they scientifically supervised. Data collection was fulfilled during the period of May and June in the academic year of 2021.
The results revealed that mean percentage of faculty members' scientific loyalty according to their professors has reached 67.25 %. In addition, the scientific loyalty was more realized during the life of the professors than after their death. Also, the emeritus professors were less satisfied with the loyalty of their students than non- emeritus professors. The results also revealed that causes of loyalty's low degree were due to either the students or the professors themselves. Finally, faculty members in the universities were more scientifically loyal than researchers from outside the university.
The research concluded with recommendation to enhance the value of scientific loyalty among researchers through a number of procedures: by making the professors as role models in scientific loyalty, setting a day annually to celebrate the scientific loyalty within the scientific department, allocating a part of the faculty magazine annually containing the progress of loyal models from students and professors, teaching courses in the ethics of the scientific research to the post - graduate students , and paying attention to the importance of educating young people on values.
