Organizational Silence of Faculty Members in College of Education in Umm-AL-Qura University

Abstract

Abstract :
The current study aimed  at identifying the reality of organizational silence behavior among faculty members in the College of Education at Umm Al-Qura University, Moreover the study aimed at   identifying the level of organizational silence in its three dimensions (submission silence, defensive silence, and social silence) among faculty members in the College of Education at Umm Al-Qura University, In addition, the study uncovered the significant statistical differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the average responses of the study sample members about the level of organizational silence in its three dimensions (submission silence, defensive silence, and social silence) among faculty members at the College of Education at Umm Al-Qura University due to demographic variables (gender , academic rank, years of service). The researcher used the descriptive analytical approach, the study sample consisted of (56) faculty members in the College of Education at Umm Al-Qura University, representing approximately (17%) of the study population. They were chosen randomly; the questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection. The most important results of the study were: that the level of submission silence of the faculty members in the College of Education at Umm Al-Qura University was at a degree (neutral) with a mean (2.80), also the results indicated that the level of defensive silence was at a degree of (neutral) with a mean (3.05), and the level of social silence was at a degree of (agree) with a mean (3.54). in addition to there were no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α≤0.05) between the average responses of the study sample about the level of (submission silence, defensive silence, and social silence) due to (gender, scientific rank, years of service).
