Higher Education and Building Knowledge Society: Knowledge Cities Management in Saudi Arabia are a model

Abstract

The current research aims to identify the role of higher education in building the knowledge society, as well as to identify the role of Saudi universities in Knowledge Cities management and the most important models, and to knowledge society through the development of proposed mechanisms on activating the role of higher education in knowledge cities Management.     
The research was based on the descriptive approach, the research showed that the most important roles of higher education in building a knowledge society, knowledge production and application, quantitative and qualitative expansion in colleges, disciplines appropriate to the needs of the renewed labor market, developing creative thinking, qualifying human resources in scientific and technical fields, monitoring the capabilities of universities and their resources in knowledge investment. The research also reached role of Saudi universities in knowledge cities, which is to provide knowledge cities with creative minds, providing knowledge activities, resources and equipment to support knowledge cities management, in addition to role of universities in stimulating the economy and marketing scientific research and knowledge and converting them into products. The research ended with a proposed model that included objectives, requirements and mechanisms for implementing this model.
