Effects of a Mindfulness-based Intervention Program on Self-Control and Social Behavior of Children with ADHD

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a mindfulness-based intervention program on self-control and social behavior of children with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). 14 students participated in the study and were allocated into either an intervention (7 students) or a control group (7 students). Research measures included Conners 3 DSM Update (2014), Self-Control scale, and Social Behavior Scale. The results of the study showed the efficacy of the intervention program at increasing self- control and enhancing social behavior of the participants. Improvements in self-control and social behavior were retained at one month follow-up.
