The Relative Contribution of Emotional Memory and Academic Boredom AS Predictors of Cognitive Failure for University Students

Abstract

     The aim of the current research is to reveal the correlation between cognitive failure and each of emotional memory and academic boredom, in addition to revealing the relative contribution of both emotional memory and academic boredom in predicting cognitive failure among university students, and the research sample consisted of (300) male and female students of fourth grade in the faculty of education in 2021-2022, helwan university, and the researcher used the following tools: the emotional memory scale , the academic boredom scale , and the cognitive failure scale , Pearson's simple correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis were used to verify the study's hypotheses, and the research results concluded that there is a negative statistically significant correlation between emotional memory and cognitive failure , also found a positive, statistically significant correlation between academic boredom and cognitive failure, and that students' scores on the cognitive failure scale can be predicted through the total score of both emotional memory and academic boredom; As (the total score of emotional memory - the total score of academic boredom) explains about 49% of the total variance of the performance of the research sample individuals on the cognitive failure scale as a whole.
