A suggested program in Geography based on the green economy orientation to develop the skills of strategic thinking and the values of environmental citizenship for the student teacher at the faculty of education in Matrouh.

Abstract

            The current research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a proposed program in Geography based on the trends of the green economy in the development of strategic thinking skills and environmental citizenship values of the student teacher at the faculty of education in Matrouh. In light of this, a research sample was selected, which consisted of (62) students from the Social Studies Division of the third year at the Faculty of Education - Matrouh University in the first semester of the academic year 2021-2022. Research tools which were strategic thinking skills scale and environmental citizenship values test were applied to them.  From the results obtained, the students of the research group excelled in the post application test than the pre-application test with a statistical difference at the level of (0.05) in terms of acquiring strategic thinking skills, environmental citizenship values, and also the size of the impact of the proposed program in Geography came out large in the strategic thinking skills scale (0.953), and the environmental citizenship values test (0.915).  Some recommendations and suggestions were made in light of the results reached. Among them is the interest of including the trends of the green economy and strategic thinking skills in the Teacher preparation programs at the faculty of education and providing scientific and practical programs for them in this field.
